Rāfi‘ ibn Khadīj al-Anṣāri al-Awsi reported: 

“We used to pray the Maghrib prayer with the Prophet(ﷺ), and when one of us left, he could still see where his arrow landed.” (Sahih al-Bukhari: 559)

This hadith tells us that sahaba used to finish the maghrib salah so early that there was still some light outside. Hence, we should also perform it in its early timing.

Isha is the last prayer of the day, offered when it is entirely dark outside. The end time of the salah is midnight, as mentioned In a hadith of Abdullah bin’ Amr. The Prophet (ﷺ) said: 

“The time of the night prayer is up to the middle of the average night.” (Sahih Muslim: 612)
